A leading Indian FMCG manufacturer digitizes its warehouses using SAP Warehouse Management (WM) with Maventic

About Client:

The client is a leading fast-moving consumer goods company in India with a presence in over 40 countries.

Business Scenario
Before partnering with Maventic, the client relied on standalone applications and manual processes for managing their warehouses, despite utilizing an SAP ERP. This was because the SAP ERP implemented by the client lacked SAP WM functionality.

Challenges

The existing business processes resulted in

  • Inefficient management of inventory
  • Drop in labor productivity
  • Unsystematic paper processes and inaccurate reporting

Solution

The client decided that the best course of action was to digitize their warehouses in a phased manner, all within the existing SAP ERP.

After evaluating a few SAP partners, they selected Maventic’s proposal to utilize the SAP WM module for this digitization process. The entire activity was strategically phased out with a pilot implementation across two warehouses and subsequently rolled out to a mix of 40 small, mid-size and big warehouses to cover all possible scenarios. The third and final phase included the routine maintenance and support for the newly implemented SAP WM module.

Benefits

With SAP WM implemented, the client is now able to:

  • Ensure transparency of stock with the ability to trace each material and where it is located in a bin.
  • Implement FIFO (First In First Out) with respect to the shelf-life of the manufactured goods.
  • Eliminate manual errors in deliveries as the SAP ERP can now suggest the right batch, location and quantity before taking delivery.
  • Improve work papers with a put-and-pick list from the system.
  • Improve operational efficiency and realize even utilization of warehouse capacity.
