The client, a renowned oil and gas company operating in the Middle East, is known for its complex operations and extensive data management. Recognizing the need for advanced analytics to drive data-driven decision-making, the client sought our expertise as an IT services consultant to implement a state-of-the-art centralized analytical system.

Business Scenario

Before partnering with Maventic, the client relied on SAP S/4HANAⓇ and SAP SuccessFactorsⓇ as their primary solutions for operational reporting. While these systems provided valuable insights, the company faced challenges due to data silos and fragmentation caused by the presence of eight non-SAP systems. This resulted in inefficiencies and hindered the holistic analysis of crucial information.

The client's key requirement was to establish a centralized analytical system capable of integrating data from both SAP and non-SAP systems. They sought to generate comprehensive visualization reports and empower decision-makers across various departments. Additionally, they envisioned mobile analytics capabilities to enable access to real-time insights on the go.

Challenges

Several challenges were identified that needed to be addressed to deliver an effective solution for our client:

Data Fragmentation: The presence of multiple systems and disparate data sources made it challenging to gain a unified view of critical information. Integration and consolidation of data were necessary to enable accurate and comprehensive reporting.

Limited Analytical Capabilities: The existing systems lacked advanced analytical features, hindering the client's ability to extract valuable insights from their data. This limitation resulted in suboptimal decision-making and missed opportunities.

Mobile Accessibility: With the increasing need for real-time insights, the client desired a solution that would allow decision-makers to access reports and dashboards from their mobile devices. This required the implementation of mobile analytics capabilities.

Solution

To address the client's challenges and meet their requirements, we proposed and implemented the following solution:

SAP BW/4HANAⓇ Warehouse Solution: We recommended implementing SAP BW/4HANA as the centralized warehouse solution, enabling seamless data integration from both SAP and non-SAP systems.

API Integration with SuccessFactors: We established a robust API integration between BW/4HANA and SuccessFactors, allowing for real-time data synchronization.

SDA Integration with Non-SAP Systems: Utilizing the power of Smart Data Access (SDA), we connected the eight non-SAP systems to BW/4HANA.

Development of 75 Reports: Leveraging the capabilities of BW/4HANA, we designed and developed more than 75 reports to cater to the analytical needs of users at all levels within the organization. These reports covered various domains, including SD, MM, FI, PS, COPA, PP, PM, and HR.

Analytics for Office (AFO): We provided user-friendly access to the reports through the Analytics for Office (AFO) interface.

Strategic Dashboard Development: To facilitate top-level decision-making, we developed eight interactive dashboards using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Benefits

The implementation of the centralized analytical system delivered numerous benefits to our client, revolutionizing their data analytics capabilities and enabling enhanced decision-making:

Comprehensive Data Integration: By integrating data from SAP and non-SAP systems into a centralized warehouse solution, the client gained a unified view of their data. This eliminated data fragmentation, providing a comprehensive and accurate foundation for reporting and analysis.

Advanced Analytics: The transition to BW/4HANA empowered the client with advanced analytical capabilities. They could now leverage cutting-edge features to uncover valuable insights, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions with confidence.

Real-time HR Insights: The API integration between BW/4HANA and SuccessFactors ensured real-time synchronization of HR-related data. This allowed the client to generate up-to-date reports on employee performance, workforce planning, and talent management, improving HR decision-making.

Elimination of Data Silos: Through SDA integration, the client successfully eliminated data silos created by their non-SAP systems. This enabled seamless integration of data from these systems into the centralized warehouse, fostering a holistic approach to analysis and reporting.

User-Friendly Interface: The availability of the Analytics for Office (AFO) interface made accessing and exploring reports effortless for users at all levels. The intuitive interface allowed for ad-hoc report generation, empowering users to delve deeper into the data and gain valuable insights.

Mobile Analytics: The implementation of the centralized analytical system included mobile analytics capabilities. Decision-makers could now access reports and dashboards on the go, enabling real-time decision-making and responsiveness in a rapidly changing business environment.

Strategic Dashboards for Top Management: The development of eight interactive dashboards using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) provided top-level management with a consolidated view of critical metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). These dashboards facilitated quick and informed decision-making across departments, improving operational efficiency.

Improved Decision-Making: Overall, the centralized analytical system empowered the client with accurate, timely, and actionable insights. This resulted in improved decision-making across all levels of the organization, leading to enhanced operational efficiency, cost optimization, and competitive advantage in the oil and gas industry.

Our implementation of the state-of-the-art centralized analytical system transformed how the client utilized data, enabling them to harness the full potential of their information assets and drive sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving industry.
