About Client

The client is an Indian freight management company that manages end-to-end logistics with a cloud-based TMS.

Business Scenario

Before partnering with Maventic, the client relied on its customers to integrate their systems with its TMS.

Challenges

Since the integration was done at the customer end, this presented the following challenges:

  • Not every customer had the requisite skills and resources to perform this task. The resources at the customers’ end were more equipped to run the ERP and maintain it periodically.
  • Every new integration impacted knowledge extension as the customer had to try and understand the working principles of the TMS.
  • It was cumbersome for the client to explain new changes to its customers every time an upgrade for the TMS was available.

Solution

The client decided that the best course of action was to simplify this integration process and, at the same time, enable its customers to seamlessly take advantage of any new updates at the TMS end through a custom plugin.

After evaluating a few SAP product engineering partners, they selected Maventic’s proposal to develop this plugin on top of SAP that would help customers’ SAP systems communicate with the client’s TMS.

Maventic utilized two sets of architectures for the plugin depending on the customer scenario:

  • Communication with the TMS using SAP CPI and SAP PI/PO
  • Direct communication between SAP and the TMS

Post the development, Maventic undertook the installation of the plugin on customers’ systems and assisted with support and upgrades.

With this custom plugin, the client is now able to:

  • Integrate much faster with its customers’ systems as there is no requirement for resources or knowledge transfer at the customer end
  • Eliminate delay in the adoption of new TMS upgrades at the customers’ end as the plugin is capable of handling this process
  • Eliminate delay in maintenance activities
  • Ensure data confidentiality as the plugin comes certified on the SAP store
