A leading Middle Eastern supermarket redesigns its SAP HANA Cloud and migrates from SAP BOBJ to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) with Maventic

About The Client

The client is one of the Middle East’s leading supermarket chains with over 100 hypermarkets and supermarkets.

Business Scenario

Before partnering with Maventic, the client utilized an architecture where SAP HANA Cloud acted as a warehouse system that aggregated data from SAP ECC, POS systems, and third-party systems which stored customer information. In addition, SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) was also utilized as the front-end tool for generating reports from SAP HANA Cloud.

Challenges

The current architecture was affected by performance issues, particularly when generating reports. These were due to an over-utilization of the server. As a result, reports took 4-5 hours to be generated, leading to a severe loss of productivity.

Solution

The client decided that the best course of action was to redesign its SAP HANA Cloud to improve performance. After evaluating a few SAP partners, they selected Maventic’s proposal to optimize their SAP HANA Cloud and migrate their front end from BOBJ to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for advanced planning and forecasting.

SAC, being wholly cloud-based, offers the added advantage of zero infrastructure setup and reduces the complexities around implementing upgrades and new versions, thus making way for a future-proof digital transformation.

After carefully examining the challenges and the objective to solve, Maventic utilized a live connection mechanism to connect the now-redesigned SAP HANA Cloud to SAC for real-time data transfer.

Benefits

With the redesigned SAP HANA Cloud and SAC as the front end, the client can now generate and derive actionable insights from several sales reports faster.
