Integrating SAP with mobile application for dealers with Razorpay Payment Gateway using CPI

The client is a subsidiary of an Osaka-based chemical company and the largest industrial paint company in India. It develops and supplies decorative, automotive and industrial coatings.

Business Scenario
Before partnering with Maventic, the client utilized a mobile application for its dealers on which digital payment options were unavailable and cash/bank transfer payment confirmations were not instantly viewable.

Challenges
The lack of digital payment options on the mobile application resulted in:

Cash and bank transfers as the only modes of payment which were slow and required manual interventions.
Limited visibility for dealers into the success or failure of a transaction as the entire process from the time of payment to the generation of an invoice took 2-3 business days.
Miscommunication in the event of failed payment transactions.

Solution
The client decided that the best course of action was to integrate its mobile application with a digital payment gateway for faster transaction processing. After evaluating a few SAP CPI partners, they selected Maventic’s proposal to upgrade its mobile application with Razorpay Payment Gateway using CPI.

After careful examination of the challenges at hand and the objective to solve, Maventic utilized SAP BTP (CPI, Cloud Connector, REST Services), SAP ERP (ABAP), Mobile Application and Razorpay Payment Gateway to overhaul the architecture.

Enable its dealers to make payments directly on the mobile application with a single tap.
Provide instant confirmation on the success or failure of a transaction.
Automate posting of account documents in SAP (which previously required manual interventions by the accounts team once the payment was confirmed).
Provide easy reconciliation as all the payments and documents were now available in a single cockpit.
